User Module Migration
This section provides an overview of how user accounts and attributes migrate from Zephyr Enterprise to QMetry. During migration, the process ensures that essential user details are accurately mapped and retained. QMetry introduces a more structured user role model while preserving core functionalities. This approach supports a smooth transition and improves user management.
In Zephyr Enterprise, users are assigned to multiple roles in a project. In QMetry, users have different roles across projects, but each user can have only one role in a single project. This setup defines how project-level permissions are managed in each system.
Organization Code Requirement
Each QMetry instance requires an organization code for user logins. The QMetry team provides this code after migration. You must use the organization code to access your QMetry account.
Pre-Migration Planning
The following are the pre-migration planning tasks:
Groups
Groups are currently not supported in QMetry. So, groups are not migrated.
Default email Handling
The system assigns a default email if an email address is unavailable during migration.
Alias Field Creation
During migration, QMetry generates an alias using the user’s first and last names from Zephyr Enterprise. If the combination is not unique, QMetry uses the username as the alias to ensure uniqueness.
Default Time Zone
All users migrated to QMetry are assigned to the default time zone, Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Managing Deleted Users
If a user is marked as deleted in Zephyr, the user is migrated and marked as a Deleted User in QMetry.
Migration of External System Users
Users authenticated through external systems (SAML or LDAP) in Zephyr will also be migrated to QMetry.
During authentication with the Identity Provider (IDP) or LDAP in QMetry, the application uses the same username from Zephyr to maintain consistency
