Create Live Reports in Confluence

Use macros to expand the capabilities of your Confluence pages by adding extra functionality and dynamic content. Zephyr Scale Reporting for Confluence gives you real-time insights into your test management initiative with up to 60 out-of-the-box testing macros. It’s a free app for Confluence, but it requires Zephyr Scale to pull data and render the reports/charts.

These macros allow you to create insightful testing reports to track coverage, progress, and quality across Jira projects, epics, and user stories. Then, you can share the information with your colleagues for more accessible data analysis and collaboration.

This topic walks you through the following tasks:


Zephyr Scale Reporting for Confluence must be installed for Confluence, and Zephyr Scale 4.5 or newer must be installed for Jira. This functionality is only available for Jira and Confluence Server at this time.

Create an application link between Jira and Confluence

Application links, sometimes called applinks, allow you to link Atlassian applications to each other. An application link between Confluence and Jira is required in order to use Zephyr Scale Reporting for Confluence.

Complete the following steps to create an application link between Jira and Confluence:

  1. Click the administration cog > Applications.

  2. Click Application Links.

  3. Enter a URL, then click Create New Link.

  4. Follow the steps to create the application link.

    If you’re not authenticated to Jira, a pop-up message may prompt you to log in and accept changes to retrieve data from Jira.

  5. Provide your credentials and click Allow.


Add macros to a Confluence page

You can create live reports with testing metrics by adding a macro onto a Confluence page.

  1. Click the + (insert more content) icon on the toolbar, then click Other Macros.


    The Select Macro screen appears.

  2. Click Reporting, then select your desired macro.

  3. Add a project, input the desired filter criteria, and click Save.


    A placeholder for the macro is added to the Confluence page. You can edit or remove the macro at any time.

  4. Click Save on the Confluence page.

    The macro with the report/chart appears on the page.
