FAQ
On this page, we’ve put together answers to common questions about migrating Zephyr Scale data from Jira Server to Cloud.
If your question is not answered here or if you’d like more information, feel free to contact us.
What is the expected length of migration for a given number of projects and test steps?
It depends on many different things. In general, migrating a thousand of objects should take a few minutes, whereas very large migration with tens of thousands to millions of objects may take a few hours. A large number of attachments can make migration longer, depending on your server’s upload speed.
Are there any feature gaps in Zephyr Scale Cloud when compared to the on–premise version?
If you’re moving from Jira Server to the Cloud version of Zephyr Scale, it is worth considering the differences in features. We have created a handy comparison matrix where you can review these differences in detail.
What are the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) limitations?
Refer to the What data gets migrated section in our Cloud Migration Guide to learn what data can and cannot be migrated from on-prem versions of Zephyr Scale to Cloud. In general, we expect JCMA migrations to work correctly with up to 50 million entities per entity type.
Can we get a refund on our unused maintenance if we migrate to Cloud?
No, but if you complete migration to Cloud before your Server license expires, we can offer a proportional discount for your new Cloud subscription. Please contact Zephyr Sales team at [email protected].
Can we exchange our Zephyr Scale Server/Data Center license for Cloud?
No, but if you complete migration to Cloud before your Server license expires, we can offer a proportional discount for your new Cloud subscription. Please contact Zephyr Sales team at [email protected].
Our Server license has expired. Can you provide a free Server license so we can upgrade Zephyr Scale to migrate to Cloud?
If you already decided to purchase a Cloud subscription, please contact the Zephyr Sales team at [email protected]. We will provide you with a promo code for your Server license so you can upgrade it and test the new version before migration.
If you are not willing to purchase Cloud at this time, we recommend that you renew your Server maintenance so you can upgrade it and test the new version. Moving forward, if you end up migrating to Cloud before your Server license expires, we can offer a proportional discount for your new Cloud subscription.
Is it possible to merge/move Jira Cloud instances?
This is currently not possible. Atlassian is working to provide Cloud-to-Cloud migration support for apps in 2022. Please see Atlassian’s public roadmap for more information on when Cloud-to-Cloud migration will be available and support app migration.
Can I link Cloud to Server instances?
Zephyr Scale does not currently support linking data from different instances having either the same or different hosting types (Server/Data Center or Cloud).
How to delete the data of a partial migration?
The easiest way to clean up your cloud data is to create an XML backup from an empty Cloud site to re-import it if you need to clear the data of a partial migration.
