A2A Support
Swagger Studio supports the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol for API design and documentation. A2A is an open protocol that standardizes how AI agents communicate and collaborate with each other. An A2A definition describes an AI agent and the capabilities it exposes to other agents.
A2A is an open-source community, specification, and toolkit. For more information about the ecosystem, see a2a-protocol.org.
Considerations
Keep the following in mind when using A2A:
Importing an A2A definition counts toward the number of APIs available in your organization.
Swagger Studio exports A2A definitions in the unresolved YAML or JSON format.
Currently, A2A does not support the following features:
Governance
Templates
Auto Mocking
Generating an MCP server
Editing with AI
Contract testing
Create A2A definitions
Manually
When you create a new API, use the Specification dropdown to choose A2A.
When you import API definitions to Swagger Studio, it automatically determines the specification of the imported A2A definition.
Programmatically
You can also create and update APIs programmatically, for example, using Swagger Studio CLI or Registry API.
curl -X POST "https://api.swaggerhub.com/apis/MyOrg/MyApi" -H "Authorization: YOUR_API_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/yaml" --data-binary @./path/to/myapi.yaml
The specification is automatically detected.
How to tell if a definition uses A2A
You can recognize A2A definitions in the My APIs and other search results pages as they are displayed with the A2A badge.
To search for APIs that use the A2A protocol, choose A2A from the Specification filter so that only A2A definitions are included in the search.
