TestComplete displays this message when you start test recording or change the project’s Tree model property, and this property’s value is not Tree.
The Tree model property must have the Tree value if you are going to create cross-browser web tests. Otherwise, the created tests will use the object hierarchy that is not applicable to cross-browser testing. It is quite possible that these tests will not work smoothly if you run them for a browser other than the one you used to create the test.
If you need to use a tree model other than Tree and do not want TestComplete to display this message (that may be needed, for example, if you have web tests created in earlier versions of the product), enable the project’s Use legacy web testing features property. In this case, the TestComplete web testing subsystem will work in compatibility mode with earlier product versions.
You can view or change the Tree model and Use legacy web testing features properties in the project editor:
-
Right-click your project in the Project Explorer and choose Edit | Properties from the context menu. This will open the project editor and activate its Properties page.
-
Select Open Applications | Web Testing category from the tree on the left of the page. The settings will be on the right.
