Product Templates

Use a product template to streamline creating new products and maintain consistency across documentation.

This feature allows you to create, edit, and manage templates. When you create a new product, you can do it from scratch or use a template.

All your templates are available in the templates gallery. To view it, click Templates on the portal's landing page.

Why templates?

As you dive deeper into API Hub for Portal, you will find that creating and configuring products from scratch can be time-consuming and can cause inconsistencies, especially across large teams. To avoid this hassle, you can now create a template for your current or future products. Not only will this save you time, but it will also standardize your documentation across all of your products.

Create a new template

In the Templates gallery:

  1. Click Create new template.

  2. Specify the name in the popup window.

  3. Choose if you want to create an empty template or base it on an existing product.

Configure the template in a similar way to configuring a product. Read more about the product content, like adding pages, here.

Use and preview templates

In the Templates gallery, you can preview and use the existing templates.

The context menu also allows you to:

  • Edit a template

  • Duplicate a template

  • Set a template as the default

  • Delete a template

Default template

Setting a template as the default encourages all users to apply it when creating new products. You can remove the default setting at any time
