Test Dynamic Identifier Patterns Wizard - Select an Object From Screen Page

Applies to TestComplete 15.70, last modified on December 17, 2024

The Test Dynamic Identifier Patterns wizard lets you check if a specific identifier matches one of dynamic identifier patterns. These patterns are defined on the Object Identification and Hybrid Mobile pages of your project and in the default project properties.

On this page of the wizard, you can specify a web object whose identifier you want to test against dynamic identifier patterns. You can specify the web object in one of the following ways:

  • Drag the target to point to the object

Drag the target glyph () to the desired object and drop it when the red frame appears around the object.

See Selecting Objects: 'Drag the Target...' Mode.

  • Point and press a shortcut

Click , and then move the mouse pointer to the desired object. When the red frame appears around the object, press the Select object shortcut, Shift+Ctrl+A. (The shortcut can be changed in the Global Shortcuts options.)

See Selecting Objects: 'Point and Fix' Mode.

  • Enter the object name manually

Enter the alias or unmapped name of the desired object into the Object box and press Enter.

TestComplete will display the identifier of the selected object below the Object text box. This identifier is the object’s id or name attribute, according to the Identification attribute project setting.

To make sure you have selected the correct object, click Highlight and TestComplete will highlight the appropriate object on the desktop screen.

After you have selected the object, click Next to proceed.
