Offline Activation of a Trial License

Applies to ReadyAPI 3.10, last modified on September 23, 2021

This page is related to file-based licenses — a regular license type used in ReadyAPI 3.10. For information on the new ID-based license type, see SmartBear ID-based Licenses.

This topic explains how to activate a trial license offline. You may need to do this if the machine where you want to use ReadyAPI does not have an Internet connection.

  1. If you do not have ReadyAPI installed, download and install it.

  2. Launch ReadyAPI.

    • If you do not have an active license, ReadyAPI will display a message asking you to activate a license:

ReadyAPI Licencing: No valid license found message

      Select Yes.

Note: If you have downloaded a trial version of ReadyAPI and run it for the first time, you can go to the fifth step.
    • If you have an active license for any tool, select Help > License Manager from the main menu.

License Manager in the main menu
  3. In the License Manager, select the desired tool and click Start Pro Trial.

  4. If the License Manager does not have all the required contact information, it will show a dialog where you can specify it. After you specify the required information, click OK.

  5. You will see a message that says that your computer does not have an Internet connection.

    Click OK.

  6. ReadyAPI generates a link for downloading the trial license file:

  7. To download a license file, copy the generated link and paste it to the address bar of the browser on a computer connected to the Internet.

  8. Copy the downloaded license file to a computer where you want to use ReadyAPI.

In the License Manager, click Install License and specify the downloaded file.

Note: There is no need to unzip the license file. You can specify the .zip file name.
