LoadComplete Remote Agent is a utility LoadComplete uses to record load tests and simulate virtual users: it can record requests sent to a service or send the recorded traffic to the tested web server to get responses from it. The utility also enables you to collect performance counter values and retrieve them from the tested Windows-based web servers.
You can get Remote Agent in the following ways:
-
Together with LoadComplete. The LoadComplete installation package includes Agent modules: when you run a load test on the computer, where LoadComplete is installed, LoadComplete launches the bundled Agent to record tests and simulate virtual users.
-
As a standalone utility. You can download the Remote Agent from the SmartBear web site. You can install the Remote Agent on remote computers separately from LoadComplete to simulate virtual users on those computers. You can also install it on your tested Windows-based web server to get its performance data.
The Agent does not require activation, so you can install it on as many computers as you need.
Standalone Remote Agent cannot be used to record load tests.
The Remote Agent process running on the operating system can simulate a limited number of virtual users. If your test requires simulating more virtual users on a workstation than one Agent process can support, LoadComplete automatically launches additional Agent processes. Multiple Agent processes can simulate up to 2000 virtual users on a single computer. After the testing is over, LoadComplete automatically closes all the additional Agent processes it created during the run.
