wText Property (Mobile Edit Controls)

Applies to TestComplete 15.20, last modified on January 19, 2022
This property is available in legacy mobile tests that work with devices connected to the local computer. To learn how to simulate user actions in newer cloud-compatible mobile tests, see the Simulating user actions in tests section.

Description

Use the wText property to get or set the text displayed in a text edit control in a mobile application.

Declaration

TestObj.wText

Read-Write Property String
TestObj A variable, parameter or expression that specifies a reference to one of the objects listed in the Applies To section

Applies To

The property is applied to the following objects:

View Mode

This property is available in the Object Browser panel and in other panels and dialogs in both Basic and Advanced view modes.

Property Value

A string containing the text displayed by the control.

Remarks

If an edit control works in password mode, that is, it hides its actual text using a pre-defined character, the wText property returns the actual text rather than the text displayed to the user.

Assigning a new value to the wText property does not move the insertion point.

Note that to change text in an edit control, you can also use the SetText action. Unlike the wText property, SetText adds a note about the performed operation to the test log.

Example

To view an example that demonstrates how to use the wText property to obtain the text displayed by an Android edit control, see Getting the Edit Text Control's Text.
