Checkpoint Wizard - Specify a Comparison Type (File, Excel, XML and PDF Checkpoints)

On this page of the Checkpoint wizard, you can specify the file you want to verify and the type of the contents to be verified.

  1. Click Byte-to-byte to compare two arbitrary files byte-by-byte.

    Click XML to compare two XML files.

    Click PDF to compare the text contents of two PDF files.

    Click Excel to compare the contents of two Excel files.

    Note: If you are configuring an XML Checkpoint, File Checkpoint, Excel Checkpoint or PDF Checkpoint operation, the wizard will select the appropriate comparison type automatically.

  2. Specify the path to the file you want to verify. For an XML file, you can specify its URL.

    You can either type the file name or click the ellipsis button and browse for the needed file in the Open File dialog.

  3. For Excel checkpoints in the Options block, specify additional settings:

    • Check Compare an entire workbook to verify entire Excel files.

    • Check Compare a specific sheet in the workbook to verify specific Excel sheets.

      • If you validate a specific sheet, select the The first row is a header check box to command TestComplete to recognize the first row of the selected sheet as the table header.

To proceed with the checkpoint creation, click Next.
