Checkpoint Wizard - Selecting Baseline XML Copy (XML Checkpoints)

Applies to TestComplete 15.73, last modified on March 04, 2025

On this page of the Checkpoint wizard, you can select the baseline copy to compare the desired XML document with.

The baseline copy is stored in the XMLCheckpoint element of your project collection (Stores > XML). For your checkpoint, you can either use an existing XMLCheckpoint element or create a new one:

  • To create a new element, click Current file contents, and then enter the desired name of the element in the Save the files to Stores as a baseline copy edit box.

This name will be used to address the element from scripts, so it must be a valid identifier. Scripting languages supported by TestComplete use different naming rules for identifiers. To specify a name that will match the rules of any language, enter a string that starts with a letter and that contains only letters, digits, and underscore characters.

  • To use an existing element, click File from Stores, and then select the desired element from the Select a Stores item drop-down list.

To complete the checkpoint creation, click Finish.

If you are creating the checkpoint for a keyword test, then after you close the dialog by clicking Finish, TestComplete will create a new XML Checkpoint operation and add it to your test.

If you are creating the checkpoint for a script, TestComplete will create a new XMLCheckpoint element and generate code. If you invoked the dialog during test recording, TestComplete will insert the generated code into the recorded script and continue recording. If you invoked the dialog at design time, TestComplete will display the generated code in the Copy Text to Clipboard dialog. Using these dialogs you can insert the generated code into your script unit.
