Using LoadComplete in Cloud Computing

Applies to LoadComplete 4.97, last modified on May 20, 2019

Before using LoadComplete in a cloud environment, consider the following:

  • Cloud computers are virtual machines. This means that the restrictions concerning activating your LoadComplete licenses on virtual computers apply to cloud computers as well:

    • If you have a Floating User license, do not install the License Manager on a cloud computer. Install it on a physical computer in your organization.

See Using LoadComplete on Virtual Machines.

    • If you have a Node-Locked license, you cannot install LoadComplete on cloud computers. You can install it on physical computers only. Please contact the SmartBear Sales Team on upgrading to a Floating User license.

    • If you have the Trial version of LoadComplete, you can install and run it on cloud computers. However, we do not recommend that you activate your trial license on a cloud computer. When you activate it on a cloud computer, it will be bound to the cloud computer’s MAC address and host computer (the computer on which the cloud computer is currently running). If the MAC address changes or the computer moves to another host computer, you license will be blocked and you will not be able to use it.

To avoid possible issues, activate your Trial license on a physical computer.

  • LoadComplete instances installed on cloud computers run outside your local network (see also Using LoadComplete in WAN). In order for the instances to connect to your License Manager PC, configure the network address of the License Manager PC and change the licensing search settings on the cloud computers:

    1. Assign a static external IP address to the License Manager PC. LoadComplete instances that are running on cloud computers will use this IP address to connect to the License Manager.

    2. On the cloud computer where LoadComplete is installed, change the search settings of LoadComplete’s licensing subsystem and specify the IP address of your License Manager PC. For detailed information on how to do this, see Specifying License Manager for Connection.

If you want just to simulate traffic on cloud computers (not to create and configure load tests), a possible solution is to use the LoadComplete Remote Agent utility. For more information, see Using LoadComplete on Virtual Machines.

In addition, to simulate traffic on Amazon cloud computers, you can use LoadComplete cloud testing feature.
