To use VirtServer, you need a trial or commercial license. Please contact your SmartBear Representative to obtain a license.

VirtServer, from version 3.16 onwards, uses two types of license:

  • File-based - These licenses involve using a SmartBear license file. You apply that file on your computer to activate the license, or you consume the license from the license server running in your network, and that is licensed with this file.

  • SmartBear ID-based - From October 2023, file-based licensing will be fully replaced by SmartBear ID-based licensing - SmartBear ID-based licenses are a new proprietary license management option we started using in ReadyAPI 3.8.1. It is more reliable and convenient than the license type used in the previous product versions. Support for SmartBear ID-based licenses is now added to VirtServer 3.16. To run the product, a user needs to specify their access credentials based on the location of the SmartBear License Server.
