What Hardware Changes May Require License Renewal

When you activate a TestLeft license, it sends data on your computer to our licensing servers:

  • The motherboard ID

  • The master hard-drive serial number

If you change both the motherboard and master hard-drive on your computer, you will have to renew the license.

What Software Changes May Require License Renewal

When you activate a TestLeft license, the licensing subsystem saves the activation information on your hard drive. This information may be lost when you are installing a new operating system.

If operating system installation does not preserve your files, applications, and settings, you will have to renew the license.

Renewing the License

  1. Before upgrading hardware or software: deactivate your TestLeft license on the License Manager PC. For detailed information on how to do this, see Deactivating and Moving Licenses.

After deactivating the license, you will get a new license key.

  2. Change the hardware or install a new operating system.

  3. Use the new license key to activate the TestLeft license as it is described in the Activating Licenses section.
