Features Added to TestLeft 2.4

Applies to TestLeft 15.40, last modified on March 17, 2022

This topic describes the changes made to TestLeft 2.4. For information about the changes in other TestLeft versions, see TestLeft Version History.

  • TesLeft is now available in two versions: 32- and 64-bit. The installation package includes both versions. The installer copies 64-bit modules to your computer automatically when you install or update TestLeft on a 64-bit computer.

x64 versions do not require any special license keys, so, your licenses remain functional.

TestLeft can test both 32- and 64-bit applications, regardless of the TestLeft bitness. If you use a 64-bit OS, you might want to switch to TestLeft x64. What advantages will you get? TestLeft x64, as a 64-bit application, takes advantage of all the benefits these applications have on 64-bit operating systems. One of them is a larger address space, which enables the test engine to store more data in memory rather than to load it from cache to the hard drive. This streamlines the test playback in general, and makes it possible to work with large tests faster.

  • The latest supported Mozilla Firefox version is 55.

  • The latest supported Google Chrome version is 61.

  • You can now test applications that use version 3.2883 and earlier of the Chromium Embedded Framework control.

  • TestLeft now supports Qt controls ver. 5.8.

  • You can now automatically check for updates of browser patches and install them by running AutoUpdate.exe with the /InstallAvailablePatches key. Note that this feature requires administrator privileges. See Web Browser Updates.

  • A number of bugs reported by our customers have been fixed.

Discontinued Support

  • TestLeft no longer supports Firefox versions 45 – 51.

  • In one of the future releases, we are going to discontinue support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 9. We will not run tests for this browser, nor will we release patches for it. Of course, you will still be able to run TestLeft web tests for this browser (like you can run tests for any application), but you will do this on your own responsibility. If you need support for this browser, please send a message to the SmartBear Support Team or to your Sales Representative.
