This page is related to key-based licenses — a regular license type used in TestExecute 15.40. For information on the new ID-based license type, see SmartBear ID-based Licenses.

If TestExecute cannot use the license activated on a virtual computer, it will display this error message.

A TestExecute license is always Floating User, it allows using TestExecute instances on virtual computers. However, you need to move the license from a virtual machine to a physical License Manager PC:

  1. Deactivate the license key on the virtual machine, as described in .

  2. Install the License Manager utility on a physical computer in your network. (This computer and the virtual machine where TestExecute is installed must be connected via the network.)

  3. Launch the License Manager utility on the License Manager PC and activate your license key. For the license activation instructions, see Activating Licenses.

Now, you can use TestExecute on the virtual machine.
