wSelectionStart Property (Specific to DevExpressMemoEdit, DevExpressTextEdit, JFXSwingTextField and SilverlightTextBox Controls)

Description

Use the wSelectionStart property to obtain the index (zero-based) of the first selected character in the edit control. Characters in the text box are enumerated from left to right. To get the number of selected characters, subtract the wSelectionStart property value from the wSelectionEnd property value.

To view this property in the Object Browser panel and in other panels and dialogs, activate the Advanced view mode.

Property Value

An integer value specified the index of the first selected character. If the text is not selected, wSelectionStart indicates the position of the cursor.
