TestComplete 14 Service is an operating system service that is installed with TestComplete. It is one of the basic TestComplete components. TestComplete uses the service to perform some helper tasks.
The service file name is <TestComplete>\Bin\TestCompleteService14.exe (the same name both for 32-bit and 64-bit TestComplete versions).
The service provides an API you can use to control projects and test runs from third-party tools. See TestComplete Service REST API.
The service is also used to exchange data between TestComplete projects during distributed testing (tests controlled by a network suite). The service must be running on all the computers participating in distributed testing.
You can check whether the service is running in Windows Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services window.
Some antiviruses and firewalls may block TestComplete Service activities. In this case, you have to change their settings to allow the Service to work. See TestComplete and Antiviruses and TestComplete and Windows Firewall.
