TestComplete shows this message when you add objects to Name Mapping from the Object Browser using the Map Object context menu command. The message asks whether you want to select object identification properties manually or you want TestComplete to do that for you.
Note: If the cross-platform web testing mode is enabled in TestComplete, all web objects you are trying to map will be mapped automatically.
-
If you choose the Map the object as ... option (recommended), TestComplete will automatically add the object and its parent objects to Name Mapping and choose the best identification properties for these objects. If you have a name mapping template that matches the object, TestComplete will map the object by using the template. Otherwise, TestComplete will use its own algorithm to map the object. If necessary, you can change the specified identification properties later in the Name Mapping Editor.
-
If you choose the Choose a name and properties manually option, TestComplete will prompt you to select needed identification properties manually and specify aliases for the object and its parent objects. If you have a name mapping template that matches the object, then by default, TestComplete suggests using the identification properties specified by the template. Else, TestComplete suggests using the properties that work best for the object according to TestComplete internal settings.
Note that mapping the object manually can take some time depending on how many objects are being mapped.
For detailed information on how name mapping works, see Name Mapping.
