This topic provides information on what you can do using the Regions editor.

Adding New Images
  • Right-click somewhere in the editor and choose New Item from the context menu.

  • TestComplete will display the Add Image wizard where you can capture the desired image or add a image file to your project.

Note that you can also add an image to the collection by copying properties of an existing image and then pasting them to the editor (see below).

For more information on adding images, see Adding Images to the Regions Collection.

Creating Images by Copying Properties of Existing Images
  • Right-click the image that you would like to copy and then choose Cut or Copy from the context menu.

  • Right-click somewhere in the editor and select Paste from the context menu. TestComplete will create a new image whose property values will coincide with the property values of the copied image.

Renaming Collection Elements
  • In the Regions editor, select the Name column for the desired collection element.

  • Choose Edit form the context menu or press F2.

  • Type the desired name in the inplace editor.

  • You will be asked whether you want to rename the collection element only or whether you want to rename the corresponding image file as well.

  • Click Yes if you want to rename the collection element only. Click No if you want to rename the corresponding image file as well.

Changing Names of Files Stored by the Collection Items
  • In the Regions editor, select the File name column of the desired collection element and press the ellipsis button.

  • In the ensuing dialog, browse for the desired image file (images of the BMP, JPEG, TIFF, GIF and ICO formats are available) and click Open.

Enabling Image Update
  • Select the Update check box of the desired image in the Regions editor.

Note: In order to allow TestComplete to update stored images, enable the Update regions option in the Stores settings.

For more information on updating images, see Updating Stored Images.

Searching for Images in the Regions Collection
  • Type part of the sought-for Regions collection element’s name in the Quick Search edit box of the editor.

  • The Regions editor will filter out the images according to the text you are typing.

To remove the filter, clear the Quick Search edit box or press the button.

Deleting Images
  • Select the desired image in the Regions editor (you can use Ctrl- and Shift-click for multiselection).

  • Right-click the selected image (or one of the selected images) and choose Delete from the context menu or press Delete.

For more information on deleting images, see Deleting Images From the Regions Collection.

Viewing Images
  • Select the desired image in the Regions editor.

  • The image preview will be displayed in the Preview section in the left part of the panel.

  • If you want to open and explore the image in the Image Viewer, click Open Image in Image Viewer in the Preview section of the editor.

  • The image will be opened in the Image Viewer panel.

Editing Images
  • Select the desired image in the Regions editor.

  • Click Edit on the Preview section’s toolbar.

  • The image will be opened in the default image editor used for the given image type.

Changing the Image Preview Scale

To change the scale of the image preview displayed in the editor’s Preview section, use the Zoom slider. The + and - keys or scrolling the mouse wheel while holding the CRTL key pressed does the same.

To restore the original picture scale click Zoom Default on the Preview section’s toolbar.

To fit the image within the borders of the Preview panel, click Best Fit on the Preview section’s toolbar.

Saving Changes

To save the changes you have made to the Regions collection, select File > Save from the TestComplete main menu.

To close the editor without saving the changes, close the editor’s tab and answer “No” when TestComplete asks you to save the changes.
