Message - The specified Pixel Tolerance value allows 25% or more of pixels of the expected and actual images to differ for the checkpoint to pass.

Applies to TestComplete 15.73, last modified on March 04, 2025

Region checkpoints can be configured so that they will pass even if some pixels in actual images will differ from those in the expected (baseline) image. The maximum allowed number of different pixels is defined by the checkpoint’s Pixel Tolerance parameter.

You receive this message if the pixel tolerance value you specified exceeds 25% of the total number of pixels in the expected image. Large pixel tolerance values are ineffective when checking images, because the checkpoint will pass even if the compared images differ significantly. Instead, it is recommended that you make use of other techniques to handle possible differences between the expected and actual images. For example, you can mark the problematic pixels in the expected image with a special “transparent” color, which will instruct TestComplete to ignore them while comparing the images. Or you can provide an image comparison mask that specifies the image areas to be ignored by the checkpoint. To learn more about fine-tuning image comparisons in TestComplete, see How Image Comparison Works, Factors Affecting Image Comparison and Comparing and Finding Images - Specific Tasks.

If you are sure you want to use the specified pixel tolerance value to handle possible changes in the checked image, click Yes to ignore this warning. Otherwise, click No and review the checkpoint parameters.
