Renewing Licenses

Applies to ReadyAPI 3.8, last modified on June 21, 2021

This page is related to file-based licenses — a regular license type used in ReadyAPI 3.8. For information on the new ID-based license type, see SmartBear ID-based Licenses.

ReadyAPI warns you when your license is about to expire or has already expired. You can renew the license in advance before the expiration date, or in 3 days after this date to avoid pauses in your working process.

The renewal license will be activated when its start date comes, so you can install it right after you get it.

There are two ways to renew a license, depending on who purchased the product for your company:

If you purchased the software

  • Click Buy Renewal. ReadyAPI will open the online shop with the required license in the cart.

  • Purchase a new license.

  • Install the license in the same way you install other fixed licenses. After you install the renewal license, the License Manager will notify you that the license has been installed and display the time when it will be activated:

If someone else purchased the software

  • Click Notify Purchaser. ReadyAPI will generate an email that you can send to the person responsible for buying licenses.

  • Once a new license is purchased, you can install it in the same way you install other fixed licenses. After you install the new license, the License Manager will show the new expiration date and notify you that the renewal license has been installed.
