This page is related to file-based licenses — a legacy license type used in ReadyAPI 3.46.1. This license type will be sunsetted from October 2023. For information on the current ID-based license type, see SmartBear ID-based Licenses.
You can deactivate licenses on headless machines by using a command-line license manager.

Download the License Manager packaged application from the SmartBear website.
Note: The License Manager requires Java 12. You can use Java shipped with ReadyAPI or download the required version from https://jdk.java.net/archive/. -
Run the License Manager .bat (or .sh on Linux and macOS) file with the
-x
option.-
If you use Java shipped with ReadyAPI, perform the following commands:
cd <ReadyAPI directory>\jre\bin
<path to license manager>\license-manager.bat -x -
If you use Java 12 installed in your operating system, perform the following command:
license-manager.bat -x

The License Manager will ask you to select the product license you want to deactivate. Specify the product by entering the relevant number.

Confirm that you want to deactivate the selected license.

The License Manager will ask you to choose the deactivation mode (Online or Offline).

If your computer can access
https://deactivation.smartbear.com
, enter 1 to select online deactivation. -
If your computer does not have an Internet connection, enter 2 to select offline deactivation.

Online deactivation procedure
If you select online deactivation, the License Manager will complete the deactivation procedure. You will not have to do anything else.
Offline deactivation procedure
If you select offline deactivation, the License Manager will display text like this one:

Please go to offline activation/deactivation page and choose the ‘Deactivate License’ action. The SmartBear license service will deactivate your license.
