Workspace Modes

You can use ReadyAPI workspaces either in the Tabbed or in the Single Panel mode. The workspace type can be set in the UI settings in ReadyAPI Preferences.

To specify the mode you want to work in:

  • Click on the ReadyAPI toolbar.

  • Switch to the UI tab in the left part of the ReadyAPI Preferences window. You can find a sample view of the window below.

  • Find the Workspace type option in the list of options.

  • Select a mode from the drop-down list.

Single Panel Mode

The Single Panel mode of a ReadyAPI workspace allows you to view the objects of your projects in a single panel of the ReadyAPI window. To switch between the contents of your projects, click the necessary elements in the Navigator.

Below is a sample view of a workspace in the Single Panel mode:

Tabbed Mode

In the Tabbed mode, ReadyAPI shows opened objects of your projects on tabs. To open the contents of your projects in the corresponding editors, double-click the needed elements in the Navigator.

You can organize your workspace in different ways:

  • Drag tabs and organize them into multiple tab groups

    Each tab group has a top-right menu for the actions related to the tab group. Below is a sample view of a workspace organized in this way:

  • Dock and undock tabs

    Right-click a tab, and then click DockDock or UndockUndock. Tab groups can likewise be docked to or undocked from the top-right menu.

  • Minimize tabs and pin them to any side of your workspace.

    Right-click a tab, and then click Minimize Minimize. Use this for windows that need to be open but are not always in focus, for example, virtual API windows, test case runners and so on.

    To restore the tab, click Restore.

  • Move tabs to the window bar

    Right-click a tab, click Move to Window Bar and then select the direction to which the tab should be moved. Below is a sample view of a window with tabs on different sides:

    To restore the tab, click Restore.

  • Change the tab orientation

    Right-click a tab, click Tab Orientation, and then specify the direction to which the tab should be moved. Below is a sample view of a window with tabs listed on the right:

  • Change the tab direction

    Right-click a tab, click Tab Direction and then select the text direction of the tab. Below is a sample view of a window with a changed tab direction:

    To restore the tab, click Restore.
