Add and Edit Defects

To begin working with defects, go to Defects > Show Defects. From here, you can access various types of operations which you can perform with a defect of your choice.

Create a defect

To create a defect, click Add New on the Defects screen.

On the following Create Defect form, provide the necessary information about a new defect on the Edit tab. You can use the auto-fill option to quickly describe the configuration – to do that, just select a recent entry in the Auto-fill From Recent drop-down list.

Tip: The required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).

Use other tabs to provide users who will work on this defect with some additional information (see below).

Once your defect is ready, click Save and Close to apply the changes you have made.

A new defect will appear on the Defects screen.

Create defects from tests

You can also create defects while running tests in the Test Runner – to learn more about that, see Create Defects From Tests.

Edit a defect

To perform operations with a specific defect, move the mouse cursor over it on the Defects screen. The Edit button will appear to the left.

Click Edit to open the Edit Defect form.

On this form, you can apply the changes you need to the defect: for example, edit the fields describing the defect, attach new error logs, make some comments, and so on. See below for more information.

  • To apply the changes you have made and return back to the Defects screen, click Save and Close.

  • To apply the changes you have made and stay in the Edit Defect form, click Save.

  • To revert the changes and return back to the Defects screen, click Cancel.

What else you can do

Link items to defects

If you need to link some other items to the defect (for example, requirements or releases), use the Linked Items panel on the Edit tab of the Create Defect or Edit Defect form. See Linked Items for more information.

Add and edit comments

If you need to add some comments on the defect, switch to the Notes tab and click Add New.

On that tab, you can also edit or delete the existing comments.

Work with attachments

To attach files to a defect, switch to the Files tab and drop the file you need to the corresponding panel. You can also click Choose File and upload a file from your device, or click Add / Link Files to open the Add New Link/Files dialog and upload the attachment from there.

On that tab, you can also download or delete the existing attachments.

View the history of changes

To view the history of changes of an existing defect, switch to the History tab.

You can also switch to the Fast Edit History tab to see changes made to the defect as part of a bulk.

Review a defect

To view the full information about a defect in an easy-to-read printable form, do one of the following:

  • On the Defects screen, move the mouse cursor over the needed defect, then click the Printer Friendly button that appears to the left.

  • Click Printer Friendly at the top of the Edit Defect form.

Email a defect

To email the defect, do one of the following:

  • Move the mouse cursor over the defect’s row on the Defects screen, then click the Email button that appears to the left.

  • Click Send Email at the top of the Edit Defect form.
