You can merge data correlation rules by using the Merge Data Correlation Rules wizard. You can also use the wizard to update your current list of data correlation rules with rules exported from another computer. Unlike importing, which replaces one list of rules with another, merging allows you to combine rules from both lists.
To call the wizard, do the following:
- Open the Data Correlation Options dialog. To do this, select Tools | Options from the LoadComplete main menu and then select Recording | Data Correlation in the resulting dialog.
- In the dialog, click
Merge and select the file that contains the exported rules in the Open File dialog.
The wizard compares your current list of rules with the rules from the specified file and displays several pages on which you can specify how to combine the correlation rules.
Append Data Correlation Rules
This page shows the rules that were found in the external file, but were not found in your current list of rules. You may want to append these rules to your current list of data correlation rules.
For each rule, specify one of the actions:
- Append - Add the rule to your list of rules.
- Skip - Do not add the rule.
After you select the desired action for all the rules, click Next to proceed.
Remove Data Correlation Rules
This page shows the rules that were found in your current list of rules, but were not found in the imported file. You may want to remove these rules from your current list of data correlation rules.
For each rule, specify one of the actions:
- Remove - Remove the rule from your list of rules.
- Skip - Keep the rule in your list of rules.
After you select the desired action for all the rules, click Next to proceed.
Merge Data Correlation Rules
This page shows the rules that were found in both lists of data correlation rules. These rules have the same names, but their content differs. You need to choose how to combine these correlation rules.
For each rule, specify one of the actions:
- Remove - Remove the rule from your list of rules.
- Rename - Keep your original rule and add another rule under a new name.
- Replace - Replace your original rule with the rule form the external file.
- Skip - Keep your original rule.
After you select the desired action for all the rules, click Next to proceed.
Summary
On the last page of the wizard, you will see how the wizard will modify your data correlation rules.
Click Finish to complete merging the data correlation rules and close the wizard. To close the wizard without modifying the rules, click Cancel.
