If you need to run profiling in a virtual environment, use virtual computers as workstations where AQTime is running, but do not activate your AQTime licenses on virtual computers. The recommended approach to use AQTime on virtual computers is the following:
-
Use a Floating User license of AQTime If you have a Node-Locked license, please contact the SmartBear Sales Team on the upgrade to Floating User license.
-
Select a physical computer that you will use as a License Manager PC.
Make sure that your virtual computers are connected to your local network and have access to the computer.
-
Activate your license on a physical computer.
-
Install your AQTime instances on virtual computers.
This way, you will be able to --
-
Easily manage your licenses.
-
Create, configure, clone and delete virtual machines with AQTime installed without any limitations.
Activating AQTime Licenses on Virtual Computers
You cannot activate a standard commercial license of AQTime on a virtual machine. If the suggestions above are not suitable, contact the SmartBear’s Sales Team and request a license that can be activated on a virtual machine.
The license activated on a virtual computer will be bound to the virtual computer’s MAC address and to the host computer (the computer on which the virtual computer is currently running). If the virtual computer’s MAC address changes or you move the virtual computer to another host computer, your license will be blocked and you will not be able to use it.
To avoid possible issues:
-
Move your license to a physical computer.
-- or --
-
Select a physical computer that will host your virtual environment.
-
Configure your virtual machine so that its MAC address remains unchanged.
-
Activate your license on a virtual computer.
-
Make sure that your virtual computer will not revert to the state preceding the license activation.
