Using AQTime in Cloud Computing

Applies to AQTime 8.81, last modified on January 18, 2022

Cloud computing is gaining in popularity and you may want to use AQTime in cloud environments. The use of AQTime in these enviroments has a number of requirements:

  • Cloud computers are virtual machines. This means you cannot use AQTime Node-Locked licenses in clouds. You can use the Floating User licenses only.

  • Since cloud computers are virtual machines, you cannot install the License Manager on them. You have to install the License Manager on a physical computer in your organization.

The AQTime instances that reside on cloud computers are running outside of your local network (see also Using AQTime in WAN). In order for the instances to be able to connect to your License Manager PC, you have to configure the network addess of the License Manager PC and change the licensing search settings on the cloud computers:

    1. Assign a static external IP address to the License Manager PC. AQTime instances that are running in the cloud will use this IP address to connect to the License Manager.

    2. On the cloud computer that has AQTime installed, change the search settings of AQTime’s licensing subsystem and specify the IP address of your License Manager PC. For detailed information on how to do this, see Specifying License Manager for Connection.
