Zephyr Permission Scheme

Applies to Zephyr Squad Server 9.0.1 and 4.8, last modified on September 19, 2022

Zephyr Squad Server uses the same users, groups and permissions that are set up in Jira. Please refer to the Jira documentation for details on setting up users, grouping them and the permissions you can set for them.

By default, Zephyr permissions will be enabled on top of the Jira permissions. Using Jira's "browse project" permissions, Zephyr permission can be enabled or disabled in Zephyr Squad's General Configuration page through Enable Zephyr Permission Scheme flag. As the Zephyr permission schema is enabled, a zephyr-testers group will be created under the Jira user groups and the Project-Role (Zephyr QA) will be added to all the Zephyr related permissions in the project permission schemes.

The following permissions are included (to be broken down into custom roles that can be created later on):

Permissions Description Default Assignee
Archive/Restore Test Executions Ability to archive and restore test executions. Zephyr QA
Browse Test Automation Ability to browse test automation. Browsing test automation provides user with permissions to browse test automation and executions within it. Zephyr QA
Browse Test Cycle Ability to browse test cycle and test executions within it, including archived test executions. Zephyr QA
Create Test Cycle Ability to create test cycle. Zephyr QA
Create Test Execution Ability to create test execution. Zephyr QA
Delete Test Cycle Ability to delete test cycle. Zephyr QA
Delete Test Execution Ability to delete test execution assuming that user has access to browse test cycles. Zephyr QA
Edit Test Cycle Ability to edit test cycle. Zephyr QA
