Using TestLeft in Cloud Computing

Applies to TestLeft 15.40, last modified on March 17, 2022

This page is related to key-based licenses — a regular license type. For information on the new ID-based license type, see SmartBear ID-based Licenses.

You cannot activate TestLeft on cloud computers.

Before using TestLeft in a cloud environment, consider the following:

  • If you have a Floating User license, activate your license on a physical computer. You can install TestLeft on cloud computers.

  • If you have a Node-Locked license, you cannot activate and use TestLeft on cloud computers. Install and activate TestLeft only on physical computers.

  • TestComplete or TestExecute licensed as Floating User can reside on cloud computers.

To run automated tests in a cloud environment:

  1. Activate your TestLeft/TestExecute/TestComplete Floating User license on a physical computer. That computer will be a License Manager PC for TestLeft/TestExecute/TestComplete instances.

  2. Install TestLeft/TestExecute/TestComplete instances on cloud computers.

  3. TestLeft/TestExecute/TestComplete instances on cloud computers are running outside of your local network. For the instances to be able to connect to your License Manager PC, configure the network address of the License Manager PC and change the licensing search settings on the cloud computers:

    • Assign a static external IP address to the License Manager PC. TestLeft instances that are running in the cloud will use this IP address to connect to the License Manager.

    • On the cloud computer that has TestLeft/TestExecute/TestComplete installed, change the search settings of the licensing subsystem and specify the IP address of your License Manager PC.
