Renewing Licenses on License Upgrade

Applies to TestExecute 15.40, last modified on March 25, 2022

This page is related to key-based licenses — a regular license type used in TestExecute 15.40. For information on the new ID-based license type, see SmartBear ID-based Licenses.

Unlike TestComplete, TestExecute is always provided to you with the Floating User license. This license type implies using one license key to permit the concurrent run of multiple TestExecute instances on network workstations. You can purchase a license upgrade that will support more product instances than your current license supports at anytime. If you purchase this upgrade, you will need to renew your current license with the new one. For detailed information, see Purchasing and Activating Upgrades of Existing Licenses.

Since you are using a Floating User license, you should only activate the new license on the License Manager PC. There is no need to activate it on the TestExecute workstations.

Note: After activating the upgrade, the old license is no longer valid.
