In Template Editor, if you click the ellipsis button of a field whose value you want to specify and one of the required values in the template is not specified, the editor will show an error message.
Specify the required value:

To select a project from the Project list, specify the Connection to your issue-tracking system.

To select an item type from the Item Type list, specify the Connection and the Project.

To select an existing item from the Item Id list, specify the Connection, the Project and the Item Type.
