Rename Objects in the Name Mapping Repository

Applies to TestComplete 15.47, last modified on January 20, 2023

You can rename objects in the Name Mapping repository. For example, you may want to change the default aliases generated by TestComplete to more descriptive or shorter aliases.

After renaming objects, update your tests to address the objects by their new names. In keyword tests, TestComplete suggests to update the names automatically. In script tests, update the names manually.

To rename an object:

  1. Select an object in the Aliases tree of the Name Mapping repository.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Press F2,

    • Click the object name twice (not a double-click),

    • Right-click the object and select Rename from the context menu.

  3. Enter a new alias for the object and press Enter.

Tip: Aliases must start with a letter and can contain only Latin letters (A..Z, a..z), digits (0..9) and underscores ( _ ).

    Aliases are case-insensitive.
