About Support

TestComplete can recognize Rogue Wave Stingray Objective Grid (C++) controls in Visual C++ MFC applications. It provides special properties and methods that let you retrieve the controls data and simulate user actions on the controls (see below).

Supported Versions

Supported component version: Rogue Wave Objective Stingray Grid (C++) ver. 10.04.

Requirements

  • A license for the TestComplete Desktop module.

  • The Visual C++ Application Support and Rogue Wave Control Support plugins. These plugins are installed and enabled automatically.

    If you experience issues when working with the controls, select File > Install Extensions from the TestComplete main menu and check whether the plugins are active. (You can find the plugins in the Desktop group.) If the plugins are not available, run the TestComplete installation in the Repair mode.

  • The tested Visual C++ application must be compiled as Open Application with debug information. For information on required compiler settings, see Preparing Visual C++ Applications for Testing.

    In addition, if the tested application is built in the Release (not Debug) configuration, the Objective Grid library must be specifically built with debug information. For more information, see Preparing Rogue Wave Stingray Objective Grid (C++) Controls for Testing.

    To learn whether your tested application is compiled with debug information, contact your development team.

  • If the tested Visual C++ application is compiled with the Use MFC in a shared DLL option enabled, the Read debug information for statically linked libraries option must be enabled on the Open Applications | Debug Agent page of your TestComplete project's properties. To learn how your tested application is compiled, contact your development team.

  • The control’s class name must be specified in the Rogue Wave Controls | StingrayObjectiveGrid group of your project’s Object Mapping options. By default, this group contains the following item:

    • CGXGridWnd
    • CGXGridView
    • CGXRecordWnd
    • CGXRecordView
    • CGXAdoRecordWnd
    • CGXAdoRecordView
    • CGXDaoRecordWnd
    • CGXDaoRecordView

    You can also command the test engine to recognize custom controls as Microsoft DataGridView controls. See below for information about this.

Recognizing Custom Controls

To command TestComplete to recognize your custom controls as Rogue Wave Stingray Objective Grid (C++) controls:

  1. Open your project’s Object Mapping options.

  2. Add the control’s class name to the Rogue Wave Controls | StingrayObjectiveGrid group.

    If you do not know the control’s name, you can ask the control’s developers, or you can view the control’s ClassName property in the Object Browser panel. As an alternative, you can click Add From Screen and select your custom control on screen. TestComplete will retrieve the control’s class name and add it to the selected mapping group automatically. For detailed information, see Object Mapping.

Once the control is mapped, it gets all the properties, methods and actions specific to the Rogue Wave Stingray Objective Grid (C++) control.

If the specified custom control does not fit the control’s type, then it may not properly respond to commands that TestComplete sends, so recording or playing back user actions over the tested control will cause errors.
