Protecting Access to License Manager Settings With Password

Applies to TestComplete 15.47, last modified on January 20, 2023

This page is related to key-based licenses — a regular license type used in TestComplete 15.47. For information on the new ID-based license type, see SmartBear ID-based Licenses.

To avoid unauthorized change of the License Manager settings, you can protect access to the settings with a password. This topic explains how you can do this.

To protect access with a password
  1. Log in to the Sentinel Admin Control Center. To do this on the License Manager PC, open the following URL:

    http://localhost:1947

If you want to configure the License Manager from a remote computer, open the following URL on that computer:

    http://License_Manager_PC_Name:1947

  2. Select Configuration from the menu on the left.

  3. Switch to the Basic Settings tabbed page.

  4. At the bottom of the page there is a Password Protection setting. Choose whether you want to protect only configuration pages or all of the setting pages.

To specify a password, click Change Password and then set the desired password in the subsequent page.

Note: The default password is an empty string.
  5. Click Submit at the bottom of the Basic Settings page to save the changes.

To change your password
  1. Log in to the Sentinel Admin Control Center.

  2. Go to the Configuration | Basic Settings page and click Change Password.

  3. Specify your new password on the subsequent page.

To remove the password, specify an empty string.

If you forgot your password
  1. Log in to the License Manager PC.

  2. Delete the hasplm.ini file. This file is located in the <Program Files>\Common Files\Alladin Shared\HASP folder.

  3. Open the Control Panel, then go to Administrative Tools | Services.

  4. In the list of services, find Sentinel LDK License Manager.

  5. Right-click the service and choose Restart from the context menu.

After that, you will be able to access the Admin Control Center.

The actions described above reset all Admin Control Center settings to their default values, so you will need to reconfigure all of the settings.
