Using TestComplete Quality Center Connector - General Procedure

Applies to TestComplete 15.42, last modified on September 08, 2022

Before you start working with TestComplete Quality Center Connector, you need to activate its license and enable the TestComplete Connector for HP Quality Center plugin in TestComplete. For a detailed description, see Activating the TestComplete Quality Center Connector and Its License.

  1. Verify that your Quality Center user account has necessary permissions.

    • To modify Quality Center scripts, your user account should belong to the TDAdmin user group.

    • To add TestComplete tests to Quality Center, your user account should belong to the QATester user group.

For information on how to add users to user groups, see Requirements for Working With HP Quality Center.

  2. Prepare an HP Quality Center project.

To attach TestComplete tests to an existing project in Quality Center, add Quality Center scripts supplied with the TestComplete Connector package. See Preparing HP Quality Center Projects.

  3. Prepare a TestComplete project suite.

Before exporting a project suite to Quality Center, check the project suiteā€™s logic and delete all the test logs. See the Exporting TestComplete Tests Into HP Quality Center topic.

  4. Export the TestComplete project suite to HP Quality Center.

To do this, use the File | HP Quality Center wizard in TestComplete. See the Export TestComplete Tests Into HP Quality Center.

  5. Configure the HP Quality Center project.

This step is optional. If needed, configure your Quality Center project before running it, for example, create test sets.

  6. Run the tests.

You run the imported TestComplete test from the Quality Center in the same way you run any other Quality Center test. See the Running TestComplete Tests From HP Quality Center topic.

Note for Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 users: Currently, TestComplete needs specific preparations to be able to work via COM on Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012. Since HP Quality Center Connector works with TestComplete via COM, you may need to change the privileges of your application or TestComplete in order to be able to run tests. For detailed information on the needed preparations, see the Configuring Manifests on Windows 8.1 and Later Operating Systems topic of the Working With TestComplete via COM section.
