  • Double-click the needed node of the project tree exposed in the Project Explorer panel.

TestComplete opens the editor in the Workspace panel.

  • Right-click the project node in the Project Explorer panel and select the needed editor page from the invoked Edit submenu.

To open a copy of the currently selected editor, do any of the following:

  • Click Open a New Instance of the Active Editor on the Workspace toolbar.

  • Right-click the needed editor’s caption and select New Editor Window from the context menu.

You can use this command to work with several code editors simultaneously. Note that this command is disabled for some panels (for example, you cannot create a copy of a log panel or of the Start Page panel).

Docking Editors

To undock an editor panel docked in the Workspace panel and change the editor panel’s position, follow the instructions below:

  • Make sure that the Tools | Docking Allowed menu item is checked. Otherwise, docking in TestComplete is disabled.

  • In the Workspace panel, double-click or drag the editor panel’s caption to turn the panel into a floating window.

  • Drag the editor panel to the needed position and redock the panel.

For more information on docking panels in TestComplete, see Docking.

To restore the default docking, do any of the following:

  • Click Default Docking in Workspace on the Workspace toolbar.

  • Right-click the caption of any editor opened in the Workspace panel and select Default Docking in Workspace from the context menu.

Closing Editors

To close an editor currently opened in Workspace panel, do any of the following:

  • Click Close in the editor’s caption.

  • Right-click the editor’s caption and select Close Editor from the context menu.

To close all the editors opened in the Workspace panel, do any of the following:

  • Click Close All Editors on the Workspace toolbar.

  • Right-click the caption of any editor and select Close All Editors from the context menu.

To close all the editors, except for the current one, do the following:

  • Right-click the editor’s caption and select Close All but This from the context menu.

Working With Source Control

To perform source control manipulations over a project item opened in the current editor, act in the following way:

  • Right-click the caption of the editor panel.

  • Select the source control command (Check In, Check Out, Get Latest Version and Compare Versions are available) from the context menu.

These commands are available only if the currently opened test project is bound to a source control system.
