This topic describes the requirements TestComplete must meet to test Oracle Forms.

If you experience issues with testing Oracle Forms, check the requirements in the following sections:

TestComplete Modules and Packages

To test Oracle Forms you must have —

  • A license for TestComplete Desktop module.

  • The Oracle Forms Control Support plugin.

This plugin is installed and enabled automatically.

Core Plugins

TestComplete recognizes Oracle Forms as Java applets. To test Oracle Forms, TestComplete uses the same plugins it uses for testing Java applications:

  • Java Application Support

  • Open Applications

  • Desktop Applications Testing

These plugins are installed and enabled automatically.

If you experience issues with testing Oracle Forms, select File | Install Extensions from the TestComplete main menu and check whether these plugins are installed and enabled.

Oracle Forms Controls Automation

The TestComplete Desktop module also includes a pre-installed plugin for automated testing of the most popular Oracle Forms controls. The plugin provides test objects, methods and properties for automating various operations on Oracle Forms controls, getting their content and so on.

Oracle Forms Control Support

The plugin is installed and enabled automatically.

If you experience issues when working with Oracle Forms controls, select File | Install Extensions from the TestComplete main menu and check whether the plugin is installed and enabled.

Supported Oracle Forms Versions

You can test Forms applets created with the following versions of Oracle Forms:

  • Oracle Forms 12c

  • Oracle Forms 11g

You can also test Oracle Forms-based applications included in Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) 12.1 and 12.2.

You can test Oracle Forms regardless of how they run:

  • On a web page.

You can test Oracle Forms running in any web browser that supports the Java Plug-in (to learn more about the Java Plug-in, visit the Java Plug-in Technology page on Oracle's web site).

  • Out-of-browser, by using Java Web Start.

Note: Testing of Oracle Forms applications running with Java 9 is not supported.
