Message - Unable to complete the operation as no MAPI-enabled email client is installed.

Applies to TestComplete 15.63, last modified on April 23, 2024

When you send test results via email from the Test Log panel, TestComplete connects to the default email application, generates an email message and initiates the email sending process. In order for TestComplete to be able to do this, the email application must be Extended MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface) compliant. An example of a MAPI-enabled email client is Microsoft Office Outlook.

If you receive this error message, it means that your default email application does not have built-in Extended MAPI support and no third-party MAPI providers are installed for it. For instance, you may face this problem if you use a built-in email client like Windows Mail on Windows Vista.

You can resolve the problem in one of the following ways:

  • Install a MAPI provider for your email client. For example, a MAPI provider for Windows Mail is shipped with Microsoft Office and can be installed by selecting the Microsoft Office Outlook | Outlook Messaging Components | Outlook MAPI Service Providers option in the Microsoft Office installation program.

  • Use an Extended MAPI-compliant email client, such as Microsoft Office Outlook.

To learn whether your email client application supports Extended MAPI and for information about MAPI providers available for it, please contact the application’s vendor.

Alternatively, you can avoid the problem if you export test results manually and then use your email application to send the resulting file to your colleagues. For more information on how to export test results in TestComplete, see Exporting Test Results.
