Converting Manual Tests to Keyword Tests

Applies to TestComplete 15.70, last modified on December 17, 2024
The manual testing functionality is deprecated. Do not use it for creating new tests. It will be removed in a future TestComplete release.

TestComplete provides the ability to run keyword tests as individual steps in manual tests. Besides specifying existing keyword tests created earlier, you can also convert existing manual test steps with the HTML and XML+XSL content to appropriate keyword tests when you edit your manual tests. This conversion means that you record a new keyword test and, at the same time, manually carry out instructions described in a manual test step in the HTML or XML+XSL format. The resulting keyword test recorded during such a conversion can then be run as the corresponding manual test step to perform its instructions automatically.

You can convert an individual test step with instructions in the HTML or XML+XSL format to an appropriate keyword test as well as you can convert the entire manual test (all its steps that have instructions in the HTML or XML+XSL format) to a collection of keyword tests that will perform the manual test step by step.

The following topics of this section provide detailed instructions on converting individual steps of your manual tests and entire manual tests to keyword tests.
