Message - 'You selected a counter other than Elapsed Time. If you have not enabled...'

Applies to AQTime 8.81, last modified on January 18, 2022

AQTime shows this message when you are trying to start the profiling that uses a counter other than Elapsed Time. If your operation system has the Kernel Patch Protection (KPP) feature, usage of these counters is unstable and may cause a system crash. This typically happens on 64-bit versions of Windows 8 and 8.1. Depending on the updates you have installed on your computer, this may also happen on earlier Windows versions (both 32- and 64-bit).

For Windows 10 users: We do not recommend enabling the kernel debug mode in Windows 10 as it may cause an unrecoverable crash. You will have to use only the Elapsed Time counter.

To work around the issue, try running the operating system in debug mode. If this does not help, you will have to use the Elapsed Time counter.

The way you enable debug mode depends on your operating system:

Windows Vista, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

Windows XP

If you started the operating system in debug mode, click Yes to continue. Otherwise, we would recommend that you click No, because if you continue, the operating system may crash.
