Configure MFA credentials

What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) requires you to present two or more pieces of evidence before an application grants access. AlertSite supports two MFA passcode mechanisms, email and SMS.

MFA in AlertSite

Many web applications enforce MFA during login, usually by issuing a short-lived one-time code. AlertSite monitors these sites by capturing the MFA token and making it available to the DejaClick scripts that your monitors run.

Prerequisites

Before you configure an MFA credential, raise a support case with SmartBear to request a unique AlertSite email address or phone number. AlertSite uses this credential to receive the temporary MFA token that the target system sends. Request additional MFA credentials if you monitor more than one account.

Configure an email-based MFA credential

To configure an email-based MFA credential, do the following:

  1. On the navigation pane, select Settings, and then select MFA Credentials.

  2. Click Add New Credential.

  3. In the Type list, select Email.

  4. In the User Email box, enter your email address. Any domain is accepted.

  5. In the MFA Credential box, enter the unique email address that SmartBear provides for your account.

  6. In the Name box, enter a name for the credential. You can use any name.

  7. Click Save.

Configure an SMS-based MFA credential

To configure an SMS-based MFA credential, do the following:

  1. On the navigation pane, select Settings, and then select MFA Credentials.

  2. Click Add New Credential.

  3. In the Type list, select SMS.

  4. In the User Email box, enter your email address. Any domain is accepted.

  5. In the MFA Credential box, enter the unique mobile number that SmartBear provides for your account.

  6. In the Name box, enter a name for the credential. You can use any name.

  7. Click Save.

Next steps

After you save the credential, assign it to the DejaClick script that monitors the MFA-protected site. AlertSite then retrieves the temporary token at run time and completes the login.
