The Authenticode category holds operations that let you sign and verify applications signed using the Microsoft Authenticode technology. The Authenticode technology allows developers to include information about themselves and their code into applications through the use of digital certificates. Signing an application serves to ensure the end users that the application they obtain was really created by a definite developer, does not contain any unsafe code and was not modified during the download. Authenticode lets end users decide for themselves whether to accept or reject software components posted on the Internet before downloading begins.
