You Are Activating the License on a Virtual Machine

Applies to LoadComplete 4.97, last modified on May 20, 2019

The License Management wizard will show a warning if you try to activate your license on a virtual computer.

If you activate your license on a virtual computer, it will bind it to the host computer (the computer on which your virtual computer is running) and to the virtual computer’s MAC address. If at least one of them changes (for example, you change the MAC address if your virtual computer or move the computer to another host computer), your license will be blocked and you will not be able to use it.

We do not recommend that you activate licenses on virtual computers. If you need to run LoadComplete in a virtual environment, we recommend that you use the following approach:

  • If you have a Floating User license:

    • Activate your license on a physical computer.

    • Install LoadComplete instances on virtual computers.

    • Make sure that the virtual computers are connected to your local network and have access to the physical computer on which you activated the license.

  • If you have a Node-Locked license, please contact the SmartBear Sales Team.

To activate your license on a virtual computer anyway, click Activate. To close the wizard without activating the license, click Cancel.

To resolve licensing problems, you can use the Licensing Troubleshooter on our web site:

The troubleshooter will also help you collect information and submit a request to the SmartBear Support Team.
